The market today is full of blenders of various types & with varying functionalities. While some blenders are meant for blending soft & raw foods like fruits & vegetables, others are designed exclusively with stainless blade & sufficient power for crushing ice.
Some General Tips for Using Blenders:
- Since overload protection is not a featured functionality of all blenders, it is advisable to avoid extended operations.
- Do not operate the blender unless the jar is securely placed on the unit.
- Avoid operating blender without the lid securely applied as even the smallest amount of food can create enough mess & remember to hold the lid down regardless of it being snug.
- Cleaning between batches can be made easier by adding a small quantity of dish detergent & warm water in the blending jar & rinsing it thoroughly.
- Avoid filling the jar right up to the brim especially when blending very thin or hot liquids. It is always advisable to leave enough space for expansion.
- Take care to cut small portions of the food item to enable its proper circulation around the blade & let your liquid ingredients enter the jar first followed by the rest of the ingredients.
- Special care needs to be taken when blending hot liquids. It is best to start at the lowest speed with the lid cap off for the steam to escape easily. Only half-fill the blender jar.
- Before you change the speed settings of your blender, allow it to come to a full stop.
- The blending procedure should be followed by a quick disassembling of the blender jar & blade so as to enable easy cleaning.
- While cleaning the blender, just wipe the exterior with a piece of damp cloth & do not immerse the base of the blender unit in water.
