It is fun making your favorite smoothie or shake recipes in the blender but the tough part is trying to clean your blender blade of those nuts & berries that get stuck between blades. Listed below are a few simple & easy steps to clean your blender blades:
Disassemble your Blender
Pull your blender apart by removing the lid & the blender jar from the base. Unscrew the bottom component & remove the blade & gasket seal taking care that you do not get hurt by the blade.
Wash the Jar
Since the jar is the most important component of the blender, it requires maximum cleaning. Wash the jar using a dish rag or sponge & warm soapy water & rinse off thoroughly for complete drying. While the jar can also be washed in the dishwasher, it is advisable to hand wash the jar to avoid scratching & breakage.
Wash other Blender Pieces
Besides the blender jar, other pieces that need to be washed include the cutting blade, gasket seal & locking ring. Be careful when washing the sharp-edged blender blade.
Start Blender for Any Stuck Items
Most often dried food tends to stick to the interior of the blender if not cleaned immediately. A good option in such cases is to mix a 1:1 ratio of water & baking soda & letting it run through the assembled blender. Rinse thoroughly & disassemble the blender for washing the rest of blender components.
Clean Motor Housing
Since it is unadvisable to clean the base of the blender by immersing it into water, it is better to wipe it down with a warm, damp cloth.
Reassemble the Blender & Store Carefully
For those who use their blenders frequently, it is advisable to store it on your countertop for easy accessibility. Others can store it someplace where it is less accessible. |
